Walnut Canyon National Monument
Truly dark sky, with the zodiacal light clearly visible.
Walnut Canyon sits just outside Flagstaff, the world's first International Dark Sky City, which means the surrounding lighting infrastructure is designed to protect the night sky. The monument preserves 700-year-old cliff dwellings built by the Sinagua people and offers ranger-led night programs. Its proximity to Flagstaff makes it one of the most accessible certified dark sky sites in northern Arizona.
