Grand Canyon National Park
Truly dark sky, with the zodiacal light clearly visible.
One of the most visited national parks in the world is also one of its best dark sky parks. Grand Canyon holds a Gold Tier certification from DarkSky International, the highest level awarded, and the canyon itself blocks ground-level light scatter from all directions. The South Rim offers the most accessible stargazing with ranger-led programs running through the summer season. The scale of the landscape at night, with the canyon dropping away into darkness below you, is something no photograph captures.
