Oracle State Park
Truly dark sky, with the zodiacal light clearly visible.
Oracle State Park sits at 4,500 feet in the foothills north of Tucson with a certified dark sky designation and a long history of astronomy use in the region. The park's elevation and distance from the Tucson metro, combined with Tucson's strict dark sky lighting ordinances, keeps the horizon relatively clean. Winter nights here are cold and exceptionally clear, making it one of the better cold-season stargazing destinations in the Southwest.
