Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory
Truly dark sky, with the zodiacal light clearly visible.
The Sunriver community in central Oregon holds an International Dark Sky Community designation, and the Nature Center and Observatory at its center is the main public astronomy facility. The observatory runs public viewing nights through the summer with telescopes available for visitors. Central Oregon's high desert climate gives more than 250 clear nights per year, one of the highest rates in the Pacific Northwest, making Sunriver one of the most reliable stargazing destinations in the region.
