Grand Teton National Park
Rural sky, where the Milky Way shows complex structure.
Grand Teton sits within Teton County, Wyoming, which holds the distinction of being the world's first county-wide International Dark Sky Community designation. The Teton Range rising sharply above the Jackson Hole valley creates one of the most dramatic foregrounds of any dark sky site in the country. The Snake River winding through the valley floor reflects stars on calm nights. At Bortle 3 the conditions are excellent, and the combination of iconic mountain scenery and dark sky certification makes it one of the most visited stargazing destinations in the West.
