Voyageurs is one of the top aurora borealis viewing sites in the contiguous United States, sitting at nearly 49 degrees north latitude in the boreal forest of northern Minnesota. Forty percent of the park's 218,000 acres is water, creating exceptional opportunities for star and aurora reflection photography on calm nights. The park holds an International Dark Sky Park certification and runs a full astronomy program including the Park After Dark summer series, a Summer Star Party, and Boreal Stargazing Week in fall.
