Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
Rural sky, where the Milky Way shows complex structure.
Gold Tier certified in 2014, one of the most visited dark sky parks in Texas. Bortle 3. The park centers on a massive pink granite dome rising 425 feet above the surrounding Hill Country, one of the largest batholiths in the United States. Climbing the dome at night under a clear sky is one of the more distinctive stargazing experiences in the state. Within 90 minutes of San Antonio and about two hours from Austin, making it the most accessible certified dark sky park for the majority of Texas's population. Entry is by timed permit and spots fill fast on weekends.
