A working cattle ranch at high elevation on the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cataloochee Ranch holds a DarkSky Approved Lodging designation as one of the first certified dark sky lodging properties on the East Coast. The Relais and Chateaux property offers 360-degree mountain sky views with the Milky Way visible on clear nights. Guided stargazing with the Astronomy Club of Asheville is available for guests. The combination of ranch atmosphere, mountain terrain, and certified dark skies makes it one of the more unique stays in western North Carolina.
