Bryce Canyon National Park
Truly dark sky, with the zodiacal light clearly visible.
Gold Tier certified at 8,000 to 9,000 feet elevation, above much of the atmospheric haze that affects lower sites. The hoodoos create an otherworldly foreground for astrophotography. Bryce hosts an annual Astronomy Festival in June. Winter viewing is exceptional: coldest and driest air, no crowds, and a snow-covered hoodoo field under the Milky Way is one of the more unusual sky watching experiences in the country.
